Following through on John's request to make sure we have a bug for everything folks need from the build team :) Tracking bug for offering a major update to 1.5 users based on 2.0.0.4. Let's cycle back on this after we see how the upcoming Firefox major update offering goes.
setting to p3 as we wont get to this before end of this month.
Priority: -- → P3
Need to figure out how doing major update impacts possible other dot releases for TB1.5.0.x.
Over to me, pending decision about major update vs 1.5.0.13

Priority: P3 → P2
I've put together some update snippets for QA to start testing major update from 1.5.0.12 to 2.0.0.6. Stealing Nick's instructions... Here's the steps to do a quick major update test without AUS. This points to the existing 2.0.0.4 complete mar, there is no partial for major update. It also fudges the EULA and HTML pane by using the Firefox 2 content. 1. Set up 1.5.0.12 and a profile you're willing to test with 2. Go to the Config Editor in the Advanced pane of the Options 3. make a new string pref app.update.url.override 4. set it to one of these URLs http://people.mozilla.com/~mscott/tb2006/major-update/update-win.xml http://people.mozilla.com/~mscott/tb2006/major-update/update-linux.xml http://people.mozilla.com/~mscott/tb2006/major-update/update-mac.xml Note: you should see the Firefox license and the Firefox major update dialog. That's expected since I'm pointing those urls right now in the xml snippets. I tested windows but not Mac or Linux so it's possible I have a mistake in the XML files for those platforms. If it doesn't work, let's start there first :)
FYI, Steven Garrity has a first cut at the Thunderbird major update dialog content: https://www.trunk.stage.mozilla.com/en-US/thunderbird/2.0.0.0/details/
Here's the actual text, for some reason the url isn't loading for me now. Thunderbird Security Alert For security reasons, we strongly recommend that you download the latest version of Thunderbird. To maximize your email security - and to enjoy the numerous other enhancements included in Thunderbird 2 - just click ‘Get the new version’ below.
I filed bug #391212 to request that the en-US version of the text is pushed on the public site for all locales. Given the very short time we have to translate this text and the fact that many localizers are on holidays, I don't think we can have this translated for all languages in a few days so we need to have at least en-US text for these. The tracking bug for the translation is bug #391214
This is my major task for this week.
Priority: P2 → P1
The details links don't work just yet, you can see the sample at https://www.trunk.stage.mozilla.com/en-US/thunderbird/2.0.0.0/details/ Adding "blocker" for tracking.

Looks good besides.
