385983 - unable to join channels with special character (letters like æ, ø and å) in channel name

I am unable to join a channel in ChatZilla which contains the letter "å". Instead  I'm joining a channel where the letter "å" is replaced by "%c3%a5" in the URL field and "ã¥" in the channel tab (I guess %c3%a5 is the character code for "å" since Wikipedia.org also replace the letter "å" with these characters in the URL: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/%C3%85).

Reproducible: Always

Steps to Reproduce:
1. type irc://server/channel in URL bar
or
2. join server and type /join #channel in the URL bar
Actual Results:  
The channel I try to join opens in one tab but nothing happens there. Another tab opens simultaneously where the letter "å" is replaced by "%c3%a5" in the URL field and "ã¥" in the channel tab and I join this channel instead.

Expected Results:  
I should have join the channel with the letter "å" in the channel name.
