Details
User-Agent: Mozilla/5.0 (X11; U; Linux i686; en-US; rv:1.9a7) Gecko/2007080209 GranParadiso/3.0a7 Build Identifier: Mozilla/5.0 (X11; U; Linux i686; en-US; rv:1.9a7) Gecko/2007080209 GranParadiso/3.0a7 When installing an extension, the addons manager will pop up with the installation tab selected, showing the extension downloading and installing. However, after this is done, the restart button is still grayed out. The only way to circumvent this is to switch to the extensions or themes tabs. After this, the restart button becomes active again. Reproducible: Always Steps to Reproduce: 1.Install an extension or theme 2.Restart button will be grayed out. 3.Switch to extensions or themes tabs to make the restart button active again. Actual Results: Restart button grayed out right after installing an extension or theme. Returns if extensions or themes tab is selected or addon manager dialog is closed and opened again. Expected Results: Restart button should always be active and not grayed out.

Which extensions have you tested this with, and where did you download them from?

I downloaded these extensions from addons.mozilla.org. It doesn't seem to matter which extensions I download. The restart button is grayed out during installation, as it should be, but after installation it never reactivates again.

I cannot confirm this, please can you provide an exact extension that you see this with so I can test with that.

Chatzilla. I am using Gran Paradiso Alpha 7. Also remember that the restart button works again after installation only if I switch to another tab in the addons manager.

I also see this happening with the german (De-de) dictionary available from addons.mozilla.org It says its needs to restart, but the button won't activate. I tested this twice on two machines. Both ubuntu linux, FF 2.0.0.6

This is probably a dupe of bug 351819.

(In reply to comment #6) > This is probably a dupe of bug 351819. > Yes this is highly likely. Wouldn't a fix be just to have the button enabled at all times? Or re-run the tab selection after a extension has finished downloading?

We tried that and then got bugs for it being enabled all of the time. I haven't had time to check if it is now fixed but the behavior has changed quite a lot on the trunk which will become Firefox 3

The button seems to be fixed in the latest trunk. However I haven't tested all extensions yet.
