User-Agent: Mozilla/5.0 (Windows; U; Windows NT 5.1; en-US; rv:1.8.1.6) Gecko/20070725 Firefox/2.0.0.6 Build Identifier: 2.0.0.6 (20070728) When choosing Help / Mozilla Thunderbird Help nothing happens. Help is not loaded or browser invoked to browse Help URL. Reproducible: Sometimes Steps to Reproduce: 1. Try to invoke Mozilla Thunderbird Help from the Help Menu Actual Results: Nothing happens. Expected Results: Display of Help system or invocation of default browser to Help URL.
Which version of Thunderbird are you using (look at menu Help -> About Mozilla Thunderbird)? Are you using the English (en-US) version? What happens when you click on a link inside a email, does it load in your default browser?
Build Identifier: 2.0.0.6 (20070728) English (en-US) Concerning links inside emails, these also fail to invoke browser. Although the HELP invocation is intermittent, the links within emails never invoke default browser... Hope this clarifies your questions...
So this is not specific to the Help menu item, which is just a link to http://www.mozilla.org/support/thunderbird/. Are you using Firefox as your main browser, as the user-agent in comment 0 indicates? Please try this in Firefox: menu Tolls -> Options -> Main panel -> click the Check Now button at the bottom. Does it say "Firefox is already set as your default browser?" Then please restart Thunderbird and try again.

yes and already tried that to no effect.

Try setting some other browser as default, then repeat comment 3. Still doesn't work?
Also, see http://kb.mozillazine.org/Default_browser#Windows for some additional instructions on how to make Firefox the default browser. Marc, please get back to this bug and state if this is still a problem or if either of those suggestions solved the issue, thus the bug can be closed.
This is now resolved. The key is to set another browser to default then set FireFox back to default browser. Problem eliminated. Although it might make sense to allow Thunderbird to ask, after checking itself which browser (if multiples installed) the user would like to use as default and set it.

Resolution: --- → FIXED
Thanks for confirming. I'm changing the resolution though since "fixed" is only used if there was an actual bug and any code changes were checked in. ->WFM (In reply to comment #7) > Although it might make sense to allow Thunderbird to ask, after checking itself > which browser (if multiples installed) the user would like to use as default > and set it. You could open this as a separate enhancement request, if this has not been filed yet.
