User-Agent: Mozilla/5.0 (X11; U; Linux i686; de; rv:1.8.1.5) Gecko/20070713 Firefox/2.0.0.5 Build Identifier: Mozilla/5.0 (X11; U; Linux i686; de; rv:1.8.1.5) Gecko/20070713 Firefox/2.0.0.5 When using a proxy auto-config (PAC) script and you want to subscribe to a rss feed by clicking on the rss icon in the url bar, the url will be malformed. I captured the request with wireshark and it looks like "GET feed://http//www.heise.de/newsticker/heise-atom.xml HTTP/1.1\r\n" If FF is configured to always use a proxy server (ip address, port) adding a live bookmark works as expected. Workaround: The requested RSS feed has to be added manually or by entering its URL directly. Reproducible: Always Steps to Reproduce: 1. Configure FF to use a proxy auto-config (PAC) file 2. Open http://www.heise.de/newsticker/ 3. Click on RSS icon in the URL bar Actual Results: The following error page is displayed: ERROR The requested URL could not be retrieved While trying to retrieve the URL: feed://http//www.heise.de/newsticker/heise-atom.xml The following error was encountered: * Invalid URL Some aspect of the requested URL is incorrect. Possible problems: * Missing or incorrect access protocol (should be `http://'' or similar) * Missing hostname * Illegal double-escape in the URL-Path * Illegal character in hostname; underscores are not allowed Expected Results: FF should open the popup window to add the requested live bookmark.
I've tested and confirmed this bug on the following platforms: Windows XP, Firefox 2.0.0.3 - 2.0.0.6 - FAILED Linux, Firefox 2.0.0.3 - 2.0.0.6 - FAILED Linux, Firefox 1.5.0.9 - PASSED Can anyone else confirm that this is a issue introduced into the 2.0 branch? -Yuriy (http://enterprisefirefox.org)
I have also confirmed this on: Windows XP: 2.0.0.12 and on the latest Beta of 3 Windows Vista: 2.0.0.12 and on the latest Beta of 3 Linux: 2.0.0.l12
I see this as well with Mozilla/5.0 (X11; U; Linux x86_64; en-US; rv:1.9.2a1pre) Gecko/20090222 Minefield/3.2a1pre
