Mozilla/5.0 (Windows; U; Windows NT 5.2; en-US; rv:1.9a8pre) Gecko/2007082405 Minefield/3.0a8pre When you bookmark a page and you use the default folder "All Bookmarks", it seems the bookmark is lost or not working, because i can`t find this bookmark anywhere.

you cannot access these bookmarks yet, all it does is marking the uri as "starred" (in the location bar , whenever you visit the page).

Should this get disabled (or fixed) for Beta? Seems like Places will be a highly visible feature, and people will be confused when the default bookmarking/starring action makes new bookmarks disappear into a black hole.

I was seeing this all the time during testing. Today, using Mozilla/5.0 (Macintosh; U; Intel Mac OS X; en-US; rv:1.9a9pre) Gecko/2007102804 Minefield/3.0a9pre, I see only two choices when I bookmark this page-> either Bookmarks Menu or Bookmarks Toolbar. Tomcat - can you check as well, since I am using an existing, albeit fairly new profile.

dietrich: can you take a look at this bug. I don`t see the folder "all bookmarks" currently on a new profile, so i don`t know if this bug is still valid ?

As filed I would say this is invalid. The bookmark is actually filed. (use the search function in the Places Organizer to visually confirm that) Also, note that places and how bookmarking works has changed significantly to make it easier; one click in the case of the location bar "star" It takes some getting used to. But in the long run, Places is actually much better than the old bookmarking. (try search and saved searches) I can already forsee the "Fx 3 sux" comments based purely on Places changes. (people resist change, we all know that). So how do we make all this stuff discoverable?

I'd rather not disable "all bookmarks", since we won't be able to switch back to it in a later release w/o compounding the confusion. One option to get us through B1 could be to add an "unfiled bookmarks" smart folder to the Places folder.

heh, still invalid: Bookmark -> Bookmark this Page -> Folder All Bookmarks does not exist now. But I think the idea here was that bookmarks appeared to be getting lost on default add. with addition of "unfiled" folder this is fixed.

Bug 451915 - move Firefox/Places bugs to Firefox/Bookmarks and History. Remove all bugspam from this move by filtering for the string "places-to-b-and-h". In Thunderbird 3.0b, you do that as follows: Tools | Message Filters Make sure the correct account is selected. Click "New" Conditions: Body contains places-to-b-and-h Change the action to "Delete Message". Select "Manually Run" from the dropdown at the top. Click OK. Select the filter in the list, make sure "Inbox" is selected at the bottom, and click "Run Now". This should delete all the bugspam. You can then delete the filter. Gerv
