User-Agent: Mozilla/5.0 (Windows; U; Windows NT 5.1; en-US; rv:1.8.1.6) Gecko/20070725 Firefox/2.0.0.6 Build Identifier: Modzilla Thunderbird version 2.0.0.6 (20070728) The Outgoing server "Set Default" button does move the default label but does not move the server to the one selected. The server continually uses the first server in the list. This problem has been there since the start of Thunderbird. BTW Thunderbird is a great product. Everything else works so editing the server line every time I switch locations may be a pain but it does work then. Thanks for providing a good product. - rms Reproducible: Always Steps to Reproduce: 1. Tools->Account Settings->Outgoing Server (SMTP) (highlight on the left) 2. Add three different SMTP servers. 3. Highlight the second or third server. Press "Set Default" 4. Send mail the server used is still the first one in the list. Actual Results: Sending Mail still uses the first SMTP server even if the second one is set to the default. Expected Results: I expect that the second server is used when set default selects it. This poses a problem if your expecting to send your mail through one SMTP and it goes through another SMTP. The work around to this bug is keep editing the first server manually when you switch locations.
Isn't it a dupe of bug 222388?
Magnus, maybe bug 222388 is about the same, but they refer 1.5. I experience the same problem: [Default] server is not actually used for sending a message, the first is used instead.
This is actually NOT a bug. I just noticed that within each individual e-mail account, there is a separate outgoing server setting at the root level of "Account Settings", at the bottom. Your e-mail account may have been set to "Use Default Server". I was going to file this bug, did a search, found it, and decided to just double check... and voila... it's not actually a bug :D
To access this setting, click on Tools -> Account Settings, and click on one of your existing e-mail account. You need to click on the entry with the +/- submenu expand box. At the bottom of that, change your outgoing server to "Use Default". Maybe file a bug with this setting for "Default" so it is more clear, but it works, just... not with the "default" setup of the account >.>
I agree to comment #2: it's a dupe of bug #222388. Feel free to reopen it if I'm wrong.
