Seen using version 2.0.0.7pre (20070906)
See attached screenshot. After launching Thunderbird the dock icon was invisible. I could see the number of messages but nothing else. Later when I opened the program from the dock the icon reappeared. David Blaine would be proud.

I have not seen this happen in the final version of Leopard. Resolving as WFM for now, will reopen if I see the behavior continue in final.
