Details

Normally, change in timezone table/database (or whatever this data is called) is rare. However, recent change in DST for US (and as a result affecting a lot of other countries) leads us to think that it's necessary to envision such changes in unpredictable future. Who knows, maybe some countries suddenly want to adopt DST? Or some countries suddenly abandon DST? Or even *touch wood* some fundamental geopolitical changes in some countries which lead to change of timezone? Tt is therefore necessary to conceive a way to change timezone table/database without waiting update to the whole application through the release of a new version. A possible way is through the add-on manager.
This is a very good idea, and it is one we are already pursuing. That work is being done in bug 314339. DUPE-> 314339. Thanks for the idea, though!
