User-Agent: Mozilla/5.0 (Windows; U; Windows NT 5.1; en-US; rv:1.8.1.6) Gecko/20070725 Firefox/2.0.0.6 Build Identifier: 2.0.0.6 (20070728) When I create a new message and "save" it instead of "send" it, it gets saved to the Drafts folder. So far so good. Now later, on a different computer, I go back in to edit the message. If I either SEND or SAVE the edited message, the original copy is deleted from the Drafts folder and the new copy IS NOT SAVED ANYWHERE. Reproducible: Sometimes Steps to Reproduce: 1. Create a fairly long new message (mine was 5k) and save it to the Drafts folder in an IMAP account 2. Go to another computer, open Thunderbird with the same IMAP account, and click the "Edit Draft" button for your new message 3. Save OR Send the edited message 4. Notice how there's no copy in Drafts and no copy in Sent of the message? Actual Results: I tried both ways, saving and sending, and in both cases the email was not saved in the expected location or any other. Expected Results: New copy should be saved in Drafts/Sent
Sounds to be a variation of phenomena of (1) in Bug 279846 Comment #1. Is identity written in X-Identity-Key: header of the draft mail defined also on the different computer? Your case seems to be; (a) From: address in the draft mail is properly defined by the different PC. (b) Identity written in X-Identity-Key: header of the draft mail is not defined by the different PC. (probably defined with different identity number) Because of (a), edit draft(and sending mail) itself is executed normally. (This behavior seems to be different from Tb 1.0 which is used when I wrote Bug 279846 Comment #1) But identity is not found on the different computer due to (b), thus Tb unable to find folders for draft/sent mail copy. Enable dialog option when save draft on the different computer. Will dialog be issued when "Save As Draft"? FYI. Seamonkey 1.1.4 didn't issued the dialog on "Save As Draft" when above situation. This indicates Seamonkey failed to find folder for "Save As Draft" and silently stop saving of draft mail.
If you want to recover the message, and didn't compact the Drafts folder, you should be able to see the old message in the Drafts folder if you go to Account Settings > Server Settings and choose When I delete a message just mark it as deleted. Please also answer the questions about X-Identity-Key (view source of the message).
