as the first step for providing support for non-english speaking firefox users we need to provide some pages with to links to firefox support sites around the world. The first step for doing that is to create an inventory of any existing sites that might be offering support or help for firefox users. I looked though firefox 2 help and identified several links to sites that are providing this kind of help and assistance... Once we get a good inventory we can start to set up pages for each locale -chofmann
Upping this to Critical. David, I think this should be incorporated into our 0.2 release.

Here's a proposal on how we can solve this: Let's create localized start pages of Sumo and add a language selector on the start page (someone please file a separate bug for that). One those start pages, we add a notification box saying something like this: "The content in this language is still limited. You might want to have a look at these other sites, created by the Mozilla community:" Also, this text should encourage people to translate the English content into their language, and eventually, we can remove the box altogether. Instead of waiting for persons from all locales to emerge and translate the start page themselves, I suggest that we just make an English copy, but with the correct locale selected, and then localizers can translate it later. However, I'd like to suggest that we wait until we have thought more about the start page content and design. Therefore, I'll make this bug depend on bug 399240.
Depends on: 399240
Target Milestone: --- → 0.2
yeah, that sounds like a reasonable starting approach. pascalc might be able to rally translators to both translate the content, and the translators might also have ideas about sites in their locale where firefox support might be available. if we are ready to ramp this up we should pull together an announcment and make some postings in the web content localization newsgroup.
Most of community support sites are already listed in mozilla europe support pages for western languages, they are a much more up to date list, chris' list reflects more the localizers site which are often disconnected to community support sites. I like David's proposal in comment #2
Severity: critical → normal
We now have http://wiki.mozilla.org/Support/In-product which lists all locales committed to translating in-product content for Firefox 3 on sumo. These people will be able to add links to community sites to the translated version of the SUMO start page. I'm inclined to mark this bug as fixed, but will at least remove the target milestone.

Have the localizers been directed to add these links?
I'll do that now.
FWIW, David and I talked about this two or three weeks ago. Links to other help sources should go in translations of <http://support.mozilla.com/en-US/kb/Other+Firefox+support>.
Chris, for pt-BR: http://br.mozdev.org/suporte/ It's Jeferson's support site, including lots of tips, help articles and his blog.
