Sumo needs its own logo. Let's brainstorm!
Blocks: 398773

Target Milestone: 0.4 → ---
*bump* We can't have SuMo t-shirts without some kind of logo/design. This is important! :)
OS: Mac OS X → All
Someone at the summit suggested to me that we talk to jslater about this. (adding to CC list)
Sounds good to me (it always comes back to t-shirts!)...let's discuss further when Tenser comes back from vacation.
ping David, who is back now. :-)
hmm somewhere I made this suggestion, but it's not here so I'll add it. I was thinking we should approach someone who submitted work we like to the tshirt contest. There was some really great stuff that didn't get on the short list.

Before we focus too much on who's going to do the actual design, I'd like to get a sense of what you guys would like to see in the logo. As in, what about SUMO would you like it to represent? I'm sure concepts like community, support, etc are essential but fleshing that out a bit more would be helpful. For reference, I've attached a creative brief I put together for the QMO logo redesign that we did last year. In all honesty, we probably went a little overboard on the detail, but it never hurts to have plenty of info! (incidentally, you can see the results of that QMO project here: http://quality.mozilla.org/vote+for+the+qmo+logo) Anyway, let me know what you think.
The main idea for me about SUMO is that it's a place you can come to get your problem solved. The user should feel safe and confident that they're going to get help and be treated like they matter. I think we should avoid things like question marks because the focus should be that it's a place to get answers, rather than a place to ask questions (I believe this point came up in previous discussions and I stole it from someone).
The community aspect is something I sometimes overlook. I've seen potential logos, with what looks like nurse. But there's more than just solving problems. It's a place to learn. A place to get started. Taking the community aspect into account, it's the primary gathering place for users to *help each other*.
David and I are on it! The logo is already in process, though in the very early design concept stage: http://musingt.com/?p=28
Target Milestone: --- → 1.0
And we just took one giant leap forward: http://musingt.com/?p=65 I'm inclined to mark this bug as solved and then file new bugs for the actual implementations.
