given that mozilla has a huge new priority for mobile, and that allow of dev is going to be happening, it makes sense to have a newsgroup.

Mailman mailing list created, admin details mailed to Doug.  Ticket opened with Giganews to create the newsgroup on news.mozilla.org.  We supposedly have some automation in place with Google now, we'll see if it works. :)

Should be at http://groups.google.com/group/mozilla.dev.platform.mobile/topics once it shows up.

Hmm, of course I notice this after the fact, but there seems to be a bit of naming inconsistency here?

We have these existing newsgroups:

mozilla.dev.platform
mozilla.dev.platforms.linux

Oh, smeg. It crossed my mind for a moment to check that, but I didn't think doug would have misspelt it.

To try and keep some consistency, it should be mozilla.dev.platform_s_.linux. The "platform" newsgroup is for the Mozilla platform (mozpad-style); the "platforms" hierarchy is for platforms on which we run.

Is it too late to fix? Please say it's not...

I renamed the mailing list, and sent a correction to Giganews (doesn't look like they processed it yet anyway).  Doesn't look like Google has polled us yet either, so the correction to the newsgroups file they poll made it in time.

looking at the logs, looks like Google is polling us twice daily.

Once everything has been set up at both Giganews and Google, justdave will open the list. The list really isn't to be used until everything is set up.

group is live on both servers.  Mailman list has been unhidden.

For future reference looks like Google has settled on polling us once daily at midnight PDT, so Google changes take effect overnight.
