We've seen this issue happen in the past, when different compiler configurations were used to build Thunderbird on the one hand and Lightning on the other hand. Do you use a Thunderbird build provided by mozilla.org or the Debian version, called IceDove. If the latter, then you will have to wait until a Debian package for Lightning arrives.

Ubuntu users reported that it worked after installing the libstdc++5 package. You might check if your Debian systems needs additional packages installed too to fulfill the system requirements <http://www.mozilla.org/projects/calendar/sunbird/system-requirements.html>.

- Am using Icedove and have the libstdc++5 package installed. - Is there a way to completely remove Lightning including any saved profile information. Would like to try a "fresh" install. Since I've tried a couple of builds and recently upgraded from Icedove/TB 1.5 to 2.0 I think there is a chance that I have a corrupted profile?

For IceDove you could try the build from <http://jean-christophe.dubacq.fr/index.php?post/2007/07/03/Lightning-05-for-icedove>

jean-cristophe build for icedove works! It even found a couple of the calendars that I had built but assumed that I had lost. Think it may be a case of where Debian/Icedove puts files as compared to native TB install?

jean-cristophe build for lightning worked, is there a similar build for google provider? Or how would I compile locally so that I could sync both ways with google. I was successful on downloading from google, just cannot upload locally (Lightning) inputted data.

I would expect that the Google provider from addons.mozilla.org works also in Icedove. Did you try that?

Yes, I have tried it with the official build. I am able to download calendar data from google calendars, but it does not permit me to upload (404 error). Again I am using Icedove; would probably switch to Thunderbird actual if I could find an accurate how-to.

(In reply to comment #8) > Again I am using Icedove; would probably switch to Thunderbird actual if I > could find an accurate how-to. > Download Thunderbird for Linux [1], extract it into a folder of your choice and run the script "thunderbird" from that folder.
