401468 - some more things to check in Serbian translation

Build Identifier: 

1. "Linija alatki" - not Status bar, it could be "Statusni panel" or "Statusna traka"
2. Bar is generally translated as "traka" in MS translation, and here is used "panel" (except in several cases, I guess that by error "traka" remained). I don't have Serbian MS Windows or Office at this computer, but will try to check again.
3. "Postavke" - I think that it is more translation for "Preferences" and not for "Options", again this is definitely something that should be taken from MS translation, as it is result of MS guidelines.
4. "Dovodi" - this is not a good word (it has no association with icon if nothing else). As far as I know, IE7 and Outlook 2007 are not translated to Serbian, thus I don’t think that there is some available translation. I found in Slovak translation released by MS that work “Kanali” is used in such case, and it seems fine to me.
5. Trade marks in Options dialog are translated into cyrillic, and I think that it is not what Mozilla intends (as those companies may want to chose other translation)
6. Some things in Options window are left unfinished (days is left as a word in setting History, and there is "Sistemska podešavanja" circle in General options with nothing in it)
7. Recently closed tabs is not translated - "Poslednji zatvoreni jezičci"
8. Customize – “Prilagodi”, and not “Podesi” – it is not “set up”

Need more info here.  

Can you give me more context so I know where this should be?  Can you please give me the original English label, that's the easiest way to locate?

I read it, and while I accept arguments, I also accept counterarguments in that discussion. Probably both solutions are not OK.

As far as I am concerned, feeds are not the same as "dovodi" in this case. There is a verb "to feed", and there is no such verb for "dovodi". And just because of that verb you get mental feeling of "push" effect that feeds should present, and you don't have such feeling with "dovodi". You get a mental image of static pipes, and that is not what is required.

I wouldn't like to be that creative to propose third solution, though I am pretty sure that after some time it will prevail.

At this point, I would do the same that Google did: use transcription as translation - "Fid" - see www.igoogle.com. Sooner or later standard will appear and we will use it.

Actually, I am wrong, there is verb "dovesti". Still, "dovesti" is not "to feed", and all in all I still think the same.

Translating "feed" as "dovod" has very strong position in engineering history (aerospace engineering: "fuel feed" -> "news feed" : "dovod goriva" -> "dovod vesti", electrical engineering "signal feed" -> "dovod signala"), as demonstrated in the link I sent.  

Translating "feed" as "kanal" ("channel") as done in some other l10n's doesn't work since a single "feed" can consist of several "channels".

I hope you understand that what is given here is a highly subjective view.  I have no special mental image associated with the terms.

For the time being I will not change 'dovod' to 'fid'.  See http://recnik.prevod.org/nadji/feed for some alternatives, also a place where you can suggest your own translation.
