Found on IRC, claims to be "u" plus the first 50 unicode combining characters. The screenshots indicate some IRC clients (!) are rendering it correctly (?), but in FF trunk I just get a horizontal string of glyphs, more or less like normal text. Roc says "it should work actually", so I'm filing a bug. :-)

Depends on: 165881
Dependent bug was 165881 marked WFM, and it seems this one is too... The testcase here is currently rendered as a compact blob of overlapping glyphs.

I still see this on linux, very similar to the screenshot in attachment 288293 [details]. Should it be reopened, should a new bug be filed? (I'm never sure with this text rendering stuff)
dolphinling, that Linux bug may be bug 425651, it apparently also depends on the Pango version you are running.
I added the testcase as a crashtest. I think the best rendering is a blob, as opposed to a horizontal string (wrong) or a vertical string (dangerous), but it's hard to test that it's rendered as a "blob".
Filed bug 839187 and bug 839189 on some remaining issues.
