Build Identifier: Mozilla/5.0 (Windows; U; Windows NT 5.1; it; rv:1.8.1.9) Gecko/20071025 Firefox/2.0.0.9
Seems like Firefox can't handle properly resizing and maximizing its window between javascript and the user.
Reproduce the steps I wrote down with the Url I sent and you will see Firefox cutting out from the available web page area every space was previously cut out from javascript's resize
Reproducible: Always
Steps to Reproduce:
1.Make sure you are in a web page (the "Back" button must enable in the next step)
2.Navigate to http://dinamico.unibg.it/ctd/matgen/int/Frame3.htm and you will see Firefox's window resized by the page's javascript. The "Back" button enables.
3.Maximize Firefox's window and press "Back" button, you will see a large area unresized.
The larger the area cut off the initial resize is, the larger will be the area Firefox can't redraw
Actual Results:
Firefox could not use the entire web-page view area and cut off with a gray space a lot of his screen preventing me to resize the window again (I could only close the affected tab to restore sizing)
Expected Results:
Firefox had to effectively maximize his window and use all the web view area available instead of cutting a large area off.
I use no themes for Firefox neither for Windows Xp.
And I think none of my add-ons is relevant for this problem.

This is most likely a bfcache issue. When I set browser.sessionhistory.max_total_viewers to 0 this doesn't happen.

Ever confirmed: true
But what's the link between browser cache and resizing area?

Not specifically tied to Windows XP, also happens on Windows 7.

Do you still see this problem using the newest versions of Firefox (3.6)?
pretty sure I've seen another bug on this - not sure if older or newer.

Well, the testcase in bug 472061 still reproduces it in 3.6.

The testcase attached here no longer works and the tc in the duplicate bug 472061 doesn't change the browser window.
Considering its been a long time since the last update on this issue and there is no reachable test case to investigate this further, I'm closing this as Incomplete.
