I am currently using the Mozilla Firefox 3 Beta 1 browser and i am unable to save anything as a bookmark. I have tried repeatedly and even reset the entire browser.  Since i cannot resolve this problem i am uninstalling this browser completely and will be turning back to IE7 until this problem is resolved.

Steps to Reproduce:
1. Go to any web page
2. Click "add to bookmarks"

Actual Results:  
Absolutely nothing happens

Expected Results:  
It should have asked if i want to add this page to my bookmarks.

this happens every single time.

You should see a little pop-up below your toolbar. See Bug 385266.

Try it with a new profile and see if there is any difference. This is working for other people so this is not a widespread issue.

I am having a similar problem.  However, once I manually add some test to the "label" text field, I can bookmark the page. I can then bookmark pages without the above step. I still have another problem with bookmarking.  I can not book mark pages into folders I created before.

could you check if you have many places.* files into the profile folder?

The folders are in the right place.  I can see them in the bookmark drop downs. It seems the bookmarking dialog only displays folder with subfolders the the two default folders. While I the folder I created do not get displayed.  I can access it by clicking on the little button with an down arrow on the right side.  I am using the simpified Chinese version of version 3 beta 1.  This version is much faster and fixed the problem of difficulties switching tabs, the main and only issue I had with version 2.  Great work! thanks.

Sounds the same as Bug 404573 the star tool does not place bookmarks in the root of the bookmarks menu.

Bug 451915 - move Firefox/Places bugs to Firefox/Bookmarks and History. Remove all bugspam from this move by filtering for the string "places-to-b-and-h".

In Thunderbird 3.0b, you do that as follows:
Tools | Message Filters
Make sure the correct account is selected. Click "New"
Conditions: Body   contains   places-to-b-and-h
Change the action to "Delete Message".
Select "Manually Run" from the dropdown at the top.
Click OK.

Select the filter in the list, make sure "Inbox" is selected at the bottom, and click "Run Now". This should delete all the bugspam. You can then delete the filter.
