406440 - unable to install new version of thunderbird

In an attempt to update to the latest version of Thunderbird, the install Wizard crashes as the install gets started. The error message is:
Error opening file for writing:
C:\Program Files\Mozilla Thunderbird\mozMapi32.dll
Click Retry to try again, or Cancel to stop the installation.

Moreover, the Wizard deleted my previous version so now I have no Thunderbird!

Reproducible: Always

Steps to Reproduce:
1. Download new version of Thunderbird
2. Run Set-up/Install Wizard

Actual Results:  
As install starts, the program crashes with the message above in the Details section.

Expected Results:  
The Wizard should have successfully installed the new version and allowed me to launch the program.

Did you try a reboot and installing again as the first action ?

Should be one variant of bug 340535. Make sure esp. logitech quickcam software is not running and reinstall (into an empty folder if all nothing else works).
