Details

Spun off from bug 404540 comment 6.

That bug had asked for an option in the View menu of the Library to group folders when sorting. Instead, I suggested that we should always be following the OS native way of grouping, pointing out that Windows Explorer always groups folders alphabetically at the top, while OSX Finder sorts them inline with files. Not sure what Linux does.
yep, I agree.

>Not sure what Linux does.

Nautilus 2.18.1 is sorting folders (and aliases to folders) at the top of the list before files.

In 2.18.3 in Debian lenny here, that’s controlled by Edit → Preferences → Views → Default View → ☑ Sort folders before files.
In Thunar 0.9.0, Edit → Preferences → Display → ☑ [Sort folders before files] or something.
I'm a Windows user and hate the Windows default of sorting folders before files. Do please make this an option regardless of the user's OS.

Bug 451915 - move Firefox/Places bugs to Firefox/Bookmarks and History. Remove all bugspam from this move by filtering for the string "places-to-b-and-h".

In Thunderbird 3.0b, you do that as follows:
Tools | Message Filters
Make sure the correct account is selected. Click "New"
Conditions: Body contains places-to-b-and-h
Change the action to "Delete Message".
Select "Manually Run" from the dropdown at the top.
Click OK.

Select the filter in the list, make sure "Inbox" is selected at the bottom, and click "Run Now". This should delete all the bugspam. You can then delete the filter.
