I'm not sure how Quick search box works now but it doesn't seem to do "and" search by separating words with spaces.
It would be very nice if we could search bookmarks and history like Google search does.
Furthermore, filtering by operators should make searching much easier.
This should be especially useful in location bar search since we can't use Advanced search UI there.

"and" search:
Word1 Word2

"or"search :
Word1 OR Word2, {Word1 Word2}

phrase search:
"Word1 Word2"

negative search:
-Word1

search by field:
date:20071222, tags:Word1, tags:(Word1 Word2)

(dietrich recently set Target Milestone to Firefox 3 M11 so the bug is still active)

Thanks for finding it.  I did a search in bugzilla before I filed this bug but couldn't find that one.
But I think bug 320332 does not completely cover what I am trying to say here.  It only mentions about the "OR" search.

I don't think I'm the first one to make this kind of enhancement request.  Has the final feature for Places search already been decided in some discussion before?  I don't want to repeat the same discussion again if that is the case.

I suppose this is the plan for Places search UI so far.

Bug 451915 - move Firefox/Places bugs to Firefox/Bookmarks and History. Remove all bugspam from this move by filtering for the string "places-to-b-and-h".

In Thunderbird 3.0b, you do that as follows:
Tools | Message Filters
Make sure the correct account is selected. Click "New"
Conditions: Body   contains   places-to-b-and-h
Change the action to "Delete Message".
Select "Manually Run" from the dropdown at the top.
Click OK.

Select the filter in the list, make sure "Inbox" is selected at the bottom, and click "Run Now". This should delete all the bugspam. You can then delete the filter.
