New messages number dont match

Showing 4011 new messages in () and 36235 new messages in dialog.
If you subscribe to a new newsgroup, fx:
comp.graphics.apps.paint-shop-pro
the number in () after the newsgroup is showing the number of unread messages,
right?
But when you select the newsgroup Mozilla ask you Download Headers. In this
dialog another number is shown for the number of new messages.
Shouldn't the numbers be the same.
