If you select the folder to place the bookmark in via the dropdown menu, the folder is also selected in the treeview but does not scroll into view.

I'm not sure I've understood well.... anyway I think you mean that if you do Bookmarks -> Bookmark this page, expand the bookmark tree and select a folder from the dropdown menu instead of using the tree, the tree doesn't scroll into view at the selected folder, because it's what happens to me. Confirmed.

Ah, I must also specify that it doesn't scroll if the parent folder tree is opened. For example, if the folder B is contained in Folder A and the tree of A is collapsed, if you select B from the dropdown menu it will be selected AND scrolled into view. But if A is expanded, the B is NOT scrolled into view but only selected, as reported by Laube.

Bug 451915 - move Firefox/Places bugs to Firefox/Bookmarks and History. Remove all bugspam from this move by filtering for the string "places-to-b-and-h".
In Thunderbird 3.0b, you do that as follows:
Tools | Message Filters
Make sure the correct account is selected. Click "New"
Conditions: Body contains places-to-b-and-h
Change the action to "Delete Message".
Select "Manually Run" from the dropdown at the top.
Click OK.
Select the filter in the list, make sure "Inbox" is selected at the bottom, and click "Run Now". This should delete all the bugspam. You can then delete the filter.
