tracking bug for any changes to web services i.e., search engines, RSS readers,
RSS fee/Live Bookmark.

For example, i have found this site http://www.lakapps.lk/ while looking for a dictionary site for Sinhala. Would there be a better example of a dictionary site that we could use for this build?

Please advise if you'd like to make any changes to above, based on new
guidelines: http://wiki.mozilla.org/Firefox_web_services_guidelines

this directionary site isn't a great example. I was looking for a dictionary search engine that would provide useful translations for Sinhala users. I made the assumption that Sinhala-English would be good but I don't think lakapps.lk is right just an example of what I was looking for. Do you have any other suggestions?

Btw, pls find following example for the 'Global search' and 'Specific interest'.

considering hanthana: can we add www.defence.lk for news feed
seems not many Sinhala web sites or search engines. We may look to neighbouring regions for a Commerce option otherwise en-US defaults localized to Sinhala where possible should work e.g., google.lk and si.wikipedia.org, etc.

I'm unclear if you'd just like to ship with Google.lk, CC, and Wikipedia-si  or the full list. My suspicion is your perference is these 3 only.
si.wikipedia.org has some 500 articles, I think we can ignore that. Mic? Maybe add that to the in-product page thing, to draw attention to it.

regarding si.wikipedia.org, I am agreeing with you about user experience of this but I will double check with our UE team to ensure they feel ok too).

Danishka, can you create a patch to update region.properties to include the en-US defaults for protocol handlers, too?

I agreed with BBC Sinhala.
(I havealready requested them to use Sinhala Unicode based site)

Danishka, i'm not sure what you meant about sinhalabloggers.com. we can only have one feed at a time. which are you suggesting?
per IRC chat, Danishka and I agree that sinhalabloggers.com is good choice for live bookmark. it is a dynamic feed on a variety of wide ranging topics of broad interest to sinhala users and is in sinhala whereas BBC is not. Danishka will post permission from sinhalabloggers.com

axel - can we close this bug now? move out mailto stuff to another bug if necessary?
Why close this bug as long as they're fx3 blocking items in it?

Both mailto: and webcal: protocol handlers are missing still.
sorry, didn't realize the basics didn't land yet.
Danishka - can you land a patch to enable Yahoo!mail for mailto and 30boxes for webcal please.

This patch lacks the diff to list.txt, r-. list.txt gives the filenames of the search plugins, without the .xml extension.

the Sinhala Blogger Union created a new sub-domain and asked me to add it as the feed for the FF3 si.

Please use http://blogs.sinhalabloggers.com/ as the feed.
Now it's up and running.

hrm, sinhalabloggers.com is slow for me. Could you guys verify that?
Perf problems seem to be fixed, might have been a local issue with not having the sinhala fonts installed, and thus getting a slow display.
Actualy they have tunned the (feedwordpress software)syndicator in order get good performance. I am sure about their feed. :)
