Can you please give an example of what used to work (when searching url) and what does not work now?
if you type "w" in the url bar in prior versions, the autocomplete box shows
all the urls that -start- with "w".
if FF3, it shows all the URLs which -contain- "w", and all the URLs which their page title -contains- "w".
there sould be an option in FF3 to show only the URLs which start with "w".

But how is that helpful? Just type in ww or www and you should see all the results starting with www.
the problem is that FF3 shows not only the URLs which start with some string (as in previous versions),
but FF3 also shows all the URLs which contain the string, not only in their start,
and also the URLs which their title contains the string.

See also bug 409895, "Favor pages that match the start of domain over other parts of the title and url".
Why is it helpful ?
Because we can go to any of our usual points with three or a maximum of four simple keystrokes + a double one.
That's Ctrl-L + first letter of URL (+ second letter if collision) + down + Return
No illogical selection where m brings lemonde because it's a frequent stop, the right keystrokes are clearly separated.
The speed we get with that is part of the sensation of ease. Typing more would not take much more time, but would be very disagreeable. That's about the reason why Google keeps returning 10 results instead of more: precise measures of satisfaction have shown that poeple liked it less for being slower, even though THEY had asked for more results.
Anyhow, for me, this awesome bar is almost a showstopper.
Mozilla/5.0 (X11; U; Linux i686; en-US; rv:1.9) Gecko/2008070221 (Gentoo) Firefox/3.0
Still missing this feature. I don't want to install an extra extension to get the feature, I want a flag that can switch 'search in title' off.

This bug really is a duplicate of bug 413211. Please do not re-open it again as they both are asking for the same thing.
