If i go to a new machine or reload tbird it dloads ALL mail on the server. Some times if i reopen it next day it redloads all mail it did before. How does it know what new mail is? Reproducible: Always Steps to Reproduce: 1. reload tbird or other mail package 2. once or twice a year a email prog will dload each letter twice 3. Expected Results: Just want to know why packages can tell new email from old ( previously dloaded mail)

It keeps a record of the ids of the mails it has seen, panacea.dat iirc. ->INVALID as this was no bug report.
