User-Agent: Mozilla/5.0 (Macintosh; U; Intel Mac OS X 10.5; en-US; rv:1.9pre) Gecko/2008033004 Minefield/3.0pre Build Identifier: Mozilla/5.0 (Macintosh; U; Intel Mac OS X 10.5; en-US; rv:1.9pre) Gecko/2008033004 Minefield/3.0pre I have Firefox configured to "ask me every time" for site cookies, but I also have the checkbox on the cookie popup checked (I checked it once way back when and when it comes up now it's already checked). However, sometimes I get tons of cookie accept popups (one at a time) for a site. I originally thought it might be a problem with lots of cookies from the same site, however, looking at the details for the URL above, it's actually asking me multiple times about the same cookie. For instance, after answering "Allow for session" 38 times in a row for this url, I only end up with 5 saved cookies. All of the ones I got a popup for seemed to be for the RMID cookie (and with the same content). I've tried other options (Allow as well as Deny) and it seams to have no effect. I've also tried manually unchecking and then rechecking the 'remember' box, all to no avail. Reproducible: Always Steps to Reproduce: 1. Configure Firefox to "ask every time" for cookies. 2. Go to a URL, such as that referenced above. (Make sure you clear out any existing exceptions and cookies from the site first, as it won't repro otherwise.) 3. Despair. Actual Results: 38 popups asking me to accept the same cookie. Expected Results: 1 popup asking me to accept 1 cookie target: i386-apple-darwin8.8.4 compiler: gcc-4.0 -arch i386 gcc version 4.0.1 (Apple Computer, Inc. build 5250)
Something similar happens to me. It only happens when I visit a site for the first time; on subsequent visits the preference is remembered. The bug started occurring when I switched to Firefox 3; it didn't happen in 2.0.0.14.
I get sometimes 50 alerts all AT ONCE! And they have to be answered IN ORDER!! sometimes it takes 10 minutes to spread out all 50 alerts and sort them from first to last so I can click them in order. This is a MAJOR problem. Easy way to trigger this: 1.Fresh profile 2.turn off javascript (or install noscript) 3. set cookies to ask 4. load 20 - 30 tabs from the same web 2.0 site. 5. turn on javascript and reload all tabs (or set noscript to permit the site) I have not counted the cookies, but it seems unlikely for one site. I can make this another bug if needed. It is not acceptable to have to answer the alerts IN ORDER unless you can only get ONE at a TIME!
I too am, and have, experienced this for a long while now. Just had it again now when going to this URL: http://blog.mlive.com/geek_guide/2009/10/iphone_snob_reviews_the_palm_p.html
Just want to add my vote for fixing this bug. It's very, very annoying, and annoys my relatives as well. (I would actually prefer if Firefox dropped the sheet-style dialog pop-ups altogether. Even *Safari* doesn't use them, and that's a native app. But that's a different problem...)
I think this is a duplicate of bug 434971
Reporter, are you still seeing this issue with Firefox 3.6.x or later in safe mode? If not, please close. These links can help you in your testing. http://support.mozilla.com/kb/Safe+Mode http://support.mozilla.com/kb/Managing+profiles

I'm not the original reporter, but I can still reproduce fairly easily in safe mode too. If the page contains : <img src='http://host/img/1.jpg'> <img src='http://host/img/2.jpg'> <img src='http://host/img/3.jpg'> <img src='http://host/img/4.jpg'> ..etc and the server at 'host' drop cookies, the browser will show multiple cookie dialogs.
No reply, INCOMPLETE. Please retest with Firefox 3.6.8 or later and a new profile (http://support.mozilla.com/kb/Managing+profiles). If you continue to see this issue with the newest firefox and a new profile, then please comment on this bug.

Still broken, Ffox 17, Debian Linux/LXDE comment #8, you have now 2 replies, please remove the INCOMPLETE. Thanks.
Bug still present in Firefox 17.0.1 Very often, there a multiple pop-ups for the same cookie domain, and the boxes are "modal", meaning that they need to be answered in the "correct" order (which makes this even more annoying, because the correct order is not always the stacking order...) Why are there even still modal dialog boxes at all in Firefox? They are a nuisance, and each remaining case should need a _solid_ justification for its modality.
I can't believe this is still an issue. Still happening with Firefox 30.0 on MacOS X and Linux!
