This bug deals with the potential productization changes for the getting started page in bug #428145

Read bug #428145 for more details.

If you think your locale needs to have some link changes in the above bug, propose them here for approval. If you don't, just close the bug.
any proposed changes?
We'll talk about this at today's Polish l10n team weekly IRC conference.
OK, so this is what we came up with today. Items marked with "(pl)" are the same sites as in en-US, but with Polish versions, items marked with "(en)" are the same English-language sites as in en-US, and items marked with "(*)" are replacements, sometimes completely different from the ones in en-US.

work
    docs.google.com (pl)
    rememberthemilk.com (pl)
    goldenline.pl (*)

We're changing LinkedIn to GoldenLine here. GoldenLine is a site really similar to LinkedIn, but in Polish.

learn
    wikipedia.org (pl)
    ...
    ...

Still need to come up with two other "learn" sites... When's the deadline? ;)

play
    youtube (pl)
    kurnik.pl (*)
    getmiro.com (en)

Kurnik.pl is the most popular community gaming site in Poland. Kurnik.pl also contributed the spellcheck dictionary that we're using in Firefox. :)

connect
    blip.pl (*)
    nasza-klasa.pl (*)
    meebo.com (*)

Blip - Polish Twitter clone, one of the most successful Polish Web2.0 sites. (BTW, it was created by Marcin Jagodzinski, the guy who started the Polish Mozilla localization project).

Nasza-klasa - currently the most popular community site in Poland (classmates.com clone).

Meebo.com - the web Jabber/ICQ/AIM/MSN client.
For learn - deadline is as soon as possible (technically it passed on April 20 but we know that things are shifting/getting close to finalizing)

Kurnik - gaming has a negative connotation in North America (associated with Gambling) but I assume this is not the case in Poland and is useful for general audiences, right?

ok on all suggested changes :)
that's *all* but looking for comment on Kurnik, thanks :)
Kurnik is not a gambling site. I wouldn't even suggest it if it was one.
These are just games played by several hundreds of thousands of users forming a lively community.

Marek - thanks, I didn't mean any offense. I figured that and wanted to be absolutely clear for anyone else reading this bug ;-)

Are we allowed to change the addons as well? There's little use for the Answers addon, when there's no Polish Answers.com...

changing the answers addon makes sense yes,
Another two sites for the 'Learn' category:

www.kopalniawiedzy.pl - a science/tech news site,
www.histmag.org - history/culture/literature site, a non-commercial community project

That'd be all for the link changes.

We still have trouble with replacing the en-US Answers.com addon with something useful for Polish users...

Attached file Almost final version
This still has Answers, but other than that, it's final.

We would like Answers to be replaced with Adblock Plus, as this is one of the most commonly used addons, and Answers is really en-US-centric. Mic, would you approve this replacement?
The second choice (if Adblock is not approved) would be ForecastFox or FlashGot.

This list (Adblock, FlashGot and ForecastFox) are the three most popular addons at the mozillapl.org community site, but there's a big gap between Adblock and FlashGot.
if you feel adblock is most popular/best recommendation for your users then lets go for it :)
Now, I've been reminded that this add-on is supposed to be in the 'Learn' category... So sadly Adblock doesn't really fit in here. :/
As there's no time left, let's leave the Answers plugin in place. I see other locales doing it as well, so I'm gonna submit attachment 318244 [details] (with the html comment "TO BE REPLACED" removed) to the global bug.

I hope that if we find a suitable replacement, we will be able to fix this in a dot-release or sth.

Resolving this one as fixed.

hi, i've had some new information from Marketing on "adblock" plug-in. comment #13. they would prefer not to include it as it is perceived as controversial by some people.
Can you suggest something else?
