We're moving the yahoo mail protocol handler off of the release blockers for 3.0, and on to a wanted-firefox3 (which I'd use if I could set it).

So, as a follow up to bug 401856, we'd like to get a mailto: handler added to the cs localization, if there's no good Czech default, we should use yahoo mail.

I don't think that some czech server supports this protocol handling.

Concerning the mailto protocol the Seznam E-mail does support it, as stated in the mail I sent to Mic on 1/6. Mic also got the URL specification and permission from Seznam PM by mail on 1/11.

Please reread the documentation on protocol handlers from the initial comment, there's one parameter passed to the web service, and that's the url encoded original mailto url. http://people.mozilla.org/~ctalbert/test-protocol-links.html has a bunch of test cases.

Should we at least get yahoo mail into RC2 still, if we get one?

Yahoo is not used in Czech. Seznam (Email.cz) and  Gmail are the only relevant Czech email providers.

Mic/Pike would you mind to share the information about the "Web based protocol handlers documentation with your contact @ Seznam.cz (used to be Petr.Pribyl at firma.seznam.cz)

well we suggest yahoo for now as it's the only one available in the short term (i believe), gmail won't be available until 3.0.1.

Not going to block fx 3.0, thus unblocking bug 415578.

Yahoo Mail has an option in their webmail UI to add themselves as mailto handler, so czech users of yahoo mail won't be left out.

And I guess Pavel is asking us to reach out to Petr.

Resolving as INCOMPLETE, whatever was said in 2008 may or may not matter today.

If you want to change protocol handlers, feel free to file a bug on a proposal.

Seznam.cz supports protocol handler. It can be tested in email.cz - pop-up window with email provider prompt should appear.

This looks OK to me.  Please check this into l10n-central and add a comment with referencing the bug number and the change.  Please test the new version with your nightly build.  If it looks good, don't forget to sign off.
