User-Agent: Mozilla/5.0 (Windows; U; Windows NT 5.1; en-US; rv:1.8.1.13) Gecko/20080311 Firefox/2.0.0.13 Build Identifier: Lightning 09pre (2008041018) [Thunderbird version 2.0.0.12 (20080213)] Neither dismiss nor snooze works for alarms that are for a repeating event. The event was originally scheduled using Lightning, which updated to my Google Calendar (*not* a Google Apps calendar) - the calendar has the experimental "cache" option enabled. I am running Google Calendar Sync to synchronize my Google Calendar with Outlook, which pulled the event into my Outlook/Exchange calendar. Later, when one of the events came due I received a reminder that cannot be dismissed, nor snoozed. The window can be closed, but every 5 minutes it pops up again. An unproven suspicion is that after pulling the event into my Outlook calendar, a later run of Google Calendar Sync pushed the event back up to Google with some minor change made by Outlook. I suspect this slightly modified event is what is refusing to be dismissed. When I view the single occurrence of the offending event in Lightning, the details show that the reminder is set to "No Reminder". Possibly related to 424185 ? Reproducible: Always Steps to Reproduce: 1. Create a repeating event in Lightning on a Google Calendar 2. Force Google Calendar Sync to run, downloading the event into Outlook. 3. Force the sync to run a 2nd time, pushing any changes back to Google 4. Try and dismiss the reminder that pops up Actual Results: Can't dismiss or snooze the reminder. Expected Results: Dismiss the reminder permanently. Thunderbird 2.0.0.12 (20080213) Outlook 2003 (11.8118.8132) SP2 Google Calendar Sync 0.9.3.2
I have the same issue, but I am not using Outlook. I use GoogleSync for my Blackberry... 1 other thing to add is that I create an event in Lightning, which goes to Google calendar with no issue.... However, if I attempt to edit/delete the event, Lightning does not allow it.. I then have to login to Google calendar and change the event there.
Please enable calendar.debug.log in the advanced config editor (See FAQ) and check your error console. You might be seeing bug 424185. See the error message in bug 424185 comment #2.
(In reply to comment #2) > Please enable calendar.debug.log in the advanced config editor (See FAQ) and > check your error console. > > You might be seeing bug 424185. See the error message in bug 424185 comment #2. > Thanks for your comment Phillip. My calendar does not revert to Read only, it simply does not allow me to edit/delete or dismiss any alarms. After checking the log, the following error appears: General response failed: [Exception... "A request Error Occurred. Status Code: 400 Bad Request Body: Invalid request URI." nsresult: "0x80004005 (NS_ERROR_FAILURE)" location: "JS frame :: file:///C:/Documents%20and%20Settings/usernamehere/Application%20Data/Thunderbird/Profiles/zk1xcw1q.default/extensions/%7Ba62ef8ec-5fdc-40c2-873c-223b8a6925cc%7D/js/calGoogleCalendar.js :: cGC_general_response :: line 844" data: no]
Are you sure you used the correct URI? Please add some more debug info from the console, i.e lines with "Requesting..." and "...upload data...".
The following is the entire console's error message: calGoogleRequest: Requesting PUT http://www.google.com/calendar/feeds/mike.kalic%40gmail.com/private/full/0vc4oe67io5pl4qccrf4thq7sc/63344061329 General response failed: [Exception... Note: I have since changed the URL, as I need to keep the address private.
The debug info I see seems correct, I'm not sure why this error shows up. I unfortunately have not outlook installed to test this. I'll try to test this soon, but due to lack of windows computers with outlook it might take a while.
Thanks Phillip.. But actually, I am not using Outlook.... Thunderbird/Lightning, Google, and Blackberry
But in the bug summary you write that the events are synced with outlook. Since you are not getting the usual message for reminders on repeating events, I suspect it has something to do with outlook.
(In reply to comment #9) > But in the bug summary you write that the events are synced with outlook. Since > you are not getting the usual message for reminders on repeating events, I > suspect it has something to do with outlook. > Hi Phillip... The first post (by Thomas Burns) indicated he used outlook... I have specifically stated I am NOT using outlook.
For my part, something must have changed as I no longer have the "can't dismiss" reminders occurring. I have not updated any of the software components, so I can only suspect that something about the appointments themselves have changed. But if Mike is still repeatably seeing the same issue with his Blackberry arrangement then it would appear the problem still exists.
Sorry Mike, I didn't look too closely at who reported the bug. I don't have a blackberry, so its even harder for me to test that. How do you sync the blackberry? with google and some programm, or with sb/ltn directly? More error console output would be appreciated, or possibly a way to reproduce without a blackberry.
I use GoogleSync on my Blackberry. However, there is no link from Lightning to my Blackberry. Only blackberry to Google calendar. Thus, I can only think that the reason I cannot "Dismiss" or "edit" lightning entries has something to do with the fact the calendar is linked with google calendar. Here is more output. And this works on a Google Calendar that is not connected to your blackberry with GoogleSync? Have I asked which version of the provider you are using?
No. Even if GoogleSync on blackberry is not installed, it still does not work. I am using .5pre for Provider (.4 also did not work)
I just installed a Microsoft update the other day, and this issues seems to have disappeared. Thanks to all that were looking into the matter.
OK, this problem is back for me, and big time. It seems Google Calendar Sync recently updated and as a result, when it synced my Outlook calendar w/ gcal it tweaked something up so that when Lightning connected and got the mysterious changes I am now again plagued with expired reminders that just don't want to be dismissed. I have tried editing the recurring appt in Google calendar and deleting the reminders. For some reason, that change doesn't show up in Lightning. And Lightning seems to ignore any requests to change the recurring appt to not have reminders as well, so I'm stuck with either closing the reminder window every 5 minutes (though sometimes it stops) or manually deleting 1 month's worth of old appointments. Even deselecting "Show missed alarms" in the options doesn't seem to affect the fact that I still get these non-dismissable reminders (but only 1 month's worth). Let me know what additional information to provide and I'm happy to provide it. Currently running 0.9pre of Lightning.
I enabled calendar.debug.log, and whenever an attempt is made to dismiss an event, it seems that Lightning tries to update Google and is refused. Of course, from a user perspective, the event should dismiss. However, this doesn't explain why, when changing Google to have no notifications this isn't reflected in Lightning. Nor why this doesn't seem to be a problem for non-recurring meetings. It also only appears to be a problem for meetings created by someone else in my Outlook calendar. Here are the log entries when I try and dismiss the item: Modifying item BlueBox Headcheck MeetingLogging object... ==================== action: Setting Upload Data: content: application/atom+xml; charset=UTF-8 data: <entry xmlns:gd="http://schemas.google.com/g/2005" xmlns:gCal="http://schemas.google.com/gCal/2005" xmlns="http://www.w3.org/2005/Atom"> <category scheme="http://schemas.google.com/g/2005#kind" term="http://schemas.google.com/g/2005#event"/> <title type="text">BlueBox Headcheck Meeting</title> <content type="text">Dial in: 866-469-3239 Passcode: 17683285</content> <author> <name>Thomas Burns</name> <email>thomas.burns@riskmetrics.com</email> </author> <gd:transparency value="http://schemas.google.com/g/2005#event.opaque"/> <gd:eventStatus value="http://schemas.google.com/g/2005#event.confirmed"/> <gd:where valueString="Dial in: 866-469-3239 / pc: 17683285 "/> <gCal:sendEventNotifications value="false"/> <gd:when startTime="2008-01-07T14:30:00-05:00" endTime="2008-01-07T15:00:00-05:00"/> <gd:reminder minutes="15" method="alert"/> <gd:extendedProperty name="X-MOZ-LASTACK" value="2008-07-09T13:50:59Z"/> <gd:extendedProperty name="X-MOZ-SNOOZE-TIME" value=""/> <gd:extendedProperty name="X-GOOGLE-SNOOZE-RECUR" value="({})"/> <gd:visibility value="http://schemas.google.com/g/2005#event.default"/> <gd:recurrence>DTSTART;TZID=America/New_York:20080107T143000 DTEND;TZID=America/New_York:20080107T150000 RRULE:FREQ=WEEKLY;INTERVAL=1;BYDAY=MO</gd:recurrence> </entry> End object ==================== calGoogleRequest: Requesting PUT http://www.google.com/calendar/feeds/thomas.burns%40riskmetrics.com/private/full/_60q30c1g60o30e1i60o4ac1g60rj8gpl88rj2c1h84s34h9g60s30c1g60o30c1g68o46d1o60q38d1p6h246e1g64o30c1g60o30c1g60o30c1g60o32c1g60o30c1g68pjacq588pj8d25690jic9k8p0jidi18d146dhj6d1j6gpp610g/63351213204 ==================== General response failed: [Exception... What I once thought was "fixed" with some updates, is not the case. I still have issues of not being able to make changes to the calendar (or even remove them).
just want to add a 'me too' comment. I run Outlook 2007 on WinXP with Google Calendar Sync tool to synchronise my Outlook calendar with Google Calendar. This seems to work ok so far. Then I go home and run Thunderbird 2.0.0.16 with Lightning 0.8 and Provider for Google Calendar 0.4 add-on on Ubuntu 8.04 x86_64 I can sync Google Calendar down to Lightning OK, but when I start Thunderbird, I get a reminders list in a dialogue box with several events that have already occured, but they are all recurring events. I cannot dismiss or snooze any of the events, but I can close the dialogue window with the window controls, which is the only way to get rid of the reminders dialogue. Annoying bug.
Another me too here, I have more detail in comment 24 of #424185. There seem to be at least two other related tickets that may be the same bug. #424185 and #415742 ?
I'm sorry, but the only way to fix this is to disallow setting alarms on invitations, since the X-Props cannot be modified. I understand that this can be very annoying and may cause you to miss your meetings, but since we have no way to snooze alarms, I see no other way. If Google decides to fix this issue, then I can reconsider!
