User-Agent: Mozilla M16 BuildID: 2000061311 It is important to be able to access bookmarks using keyboard shortcuts. It would be fine if the Bookmarks menu worked the same way standard Windows menus work: pressing a symbol on the keyboard selects the menu item that starts with that symbol. If that's the only item in that folder (submenu) that starts with that symbol, then it effectively clicks that item, that is, if it's a submenu it opens it, if it's a bookmark it navigates to the bookmark's URL. One way to achieve that on Windows would be to have an option to make Mozilla use the standard Windows menus instead of whatever it is using now. Even better would be to have an ability to designate a hotkey for every bookmark at will, for example by prefixing a letter in a bookmark's name with an ampersand, or maybe there would be a new bookmark property for that. Reproducible: Always Steps to Reproduce: Right now the only way to navigate Bookmarks menu with the keyboard is by using arrow keys, which is even slower than using the mouse.
RFE so confirming, but there's a couple of issues here... seems to me that some of these issues would be general menu enhancements that wouldn't be specific to the bookmarks menu. However, I do agree that the bookmarks need to be more easily accessible from the keyboard...afaik, at the moment there's no way to scroll menus with scrollbars from the keyboard. perhaps this better fits under keyboard navigation?

Reassigning 79 Bookmarks bugs to Ben. I was told this was going to be done shortly about two months ago, but it clearly hasn't been. I think that's long enough for all these bugs to remain assigned to nobody. Feel free to filter all this spam into the trashcan by looking for this string in the message body: ducksgoquack

There's a more general bug on this, applying to all menus. All in favor of duping this for 67952.
This bug is a dupe of Bug 67952 in the sense that fixing that bug would probibally fix this one, and different solutions to both bugs would not be good. Also the discussion on the other bug mentioned patches. I am interested in this bug because a friend of mine decided not to use Netscape 6 because it doesn't have this feature. For a long time he used Nescape 2, or something like that, which did.
Duping this in favor of the more general bug. *** This bug has been marked as a duplicate of 67952 ***
