Bug 397723, your name is mud.
Replacing http://mxr.mozilla.org/mozilla/source/toolkit/themes/pinstripe/global/icons/loading_16.gif with http://mxr.mozilla.org/mozilla/source/toolkit/themes/pinstripe/global/icons/loading_16.png was a fine idea, but replacing it in the jar.mn while not cvs removing the old file or changing over any consumers other than Firefox wasn't nearly as good an idea.
(And yes, I have been watching my throbber disappear and reappear since the end of January without being willing to file-and-fix it, thanks for asking.)
