User-Agent: Mozilla/5.0 (Windows; U; Windows NT 5.1; fr; rv:1.8.1.14) Gecko/20080404 Firefox/2.0.0.14 ImageShackToolbar/4.4.3 Build Identifier: Mozilla/5.0 (Windows; U; Windows NT 5.1; fr; rv:1.8.1.14) Gecko/20080404 Firefox/2.0.0.14 ImageShackToolbar/4.4.3 After installing the 2.0.0.13 update, I noticed a problem in the streaming of flash contents. It worked without bugs for a few days than began to bug. When trying to play videos (like on www.youtube.com) or sounds (as on www.deezer.com) in streaming, these play during two or three seconds (in "mute mode") than freeze while the buffer continues to load proprely. It makes these contents unreadable. Re-booting neither Firefox neither the computer fixes the problem. The problem is not systematic but happens really often. Sometimes, in rebooting firefox, the first video I try to watch works correctly, but than the second bugs again. The update to 2.0.0.14 doesn't fix the problem. It seems to be a compatibility issue between the last updates of FF and the last updates of Flash Player, as uninstalling both Firefox and Flash player to get back to older versions fixes the bug. Please note that I don't have neither a firewall neither an antivirus resident protection that would disallow any content to be played. In addition, notice that this happened first as I had watched videos all the day without any problem and without changing nothing to my config. Hope you'll find the way to fix that bug : It's pretty annoying and forces me to use IE7.0 to watch videos. Reproducible: Sometimes Steps to Reproduce: 1. 2. 3.

Does it work in Firefox Safe Mode? (it temporarily disables add-ons and themes, this test will help us narrow down the cause of the problem) -- See http://kb.mozillazine.org/Safe_Mode
Yes indeed, everything works well in safe mode. Both videos and sound streamings work perfectly.

Ok, so one of your add-ons is causing the problem. Can you help us find out which one? Try disabling half of them, if the problem still occurs continue disable/enable half of the pool until you find the one that causes the problem.

Reproduction steps, from bug 454078: 1. Open the URL http://apronet.hu/aprohirdetes/szorakoztato_elektronika/televizio_tv_keszulek_lcd.php in a tab. 2. Wait for the page to completely load (until the favicon appears on the tabstrip). 3. Open a new tab, and load a Youtube video on it. It will stop after 2 seconds, and during that 2 seconds, play no sound. This reproduces the bug, even in Safe Mode. Tested in Firefox 3.0.1 on Windows XP SP3 with Shockwave Flash 9.0 r124. To get back proper functionality, one must close the offending tab (and in some cases, all other tabs except for the one with the affected Flash animation), clear the cache and restart the browser. Also, this bug is not specific to streaming animations - the trigger is an audio component in the Flash file (e.g. background music, the audio part of a Flash video, etc.) The Flash on http://www.animutationportal.com/modules/debaser/player.php?id=39 (an "animutation") stops at the "far, far away" scene after "Commence" is clicked. Confirming. Also, not specific to 2.0x.

Ever confirmed: true
Summary: Flash streamings play 2 secs without sound than freeze → Flash animations freeze when attempting to play sound (Youtube 2 second stall bug)
Version: 2.0 Branch → Trunk
Solution to the 2 second YouTube freeze: Lived with this problem for months. Finally took some advise from somewhere to install Flash Player 10. Problem solved http://www.adobe.com/shockwave/download/download.cgi?P1_Prod_Version=ShockwaveFlash

According to bug 450123, this can still happen with Flash 10, though it's now much rarer.
