To get window stuck in focused state: 1. Visit the bug URL 2. Click out of the browser window 3. Observe that close/minimize/etc. widgets do not change to inactive state and window title text does not change to inactive state To get window stuck in unfocused state: 1. Visit the bug URL 2. While the URL is loading and before the applet is displayed, click out of the browser window 3. Observe the window correctly looks like an inactive window 4. Once the applet is displayed, click inside the browser window 5. Observe the window does not take on the active window appearance I don't think there's anything special about the applet linked in the bug URL that causes this, it just happens to be one I use for testing.
I can reproduce this on OS X 10.5.2 with today's Minefield nightly. But I can't reproduce it with today's Camino trunk nightly or in Firefox 2.0.0.14 or Camino 1.5.5. So, though there's some interaction with the JEP involved, I think this is probably a browser bug.
And if it's a browser bug, it's probably a Cocoa widgets bug.

I've just released a new version of the JEP (0.9.7) that fixes this problem. See bug 488746.

The HTML <applet> element and related java functionality was removed from Gecko in Bug 1279218. Marking related bugs as invalid.
