I am using Irfanview as my default jpg viewer. I was using it as an application which opened the attached pictures to the email. Since the last SeaMonkey update and Irfanview update I am getting following errorneus behavior.
Although when opening mail with the attachment I sea the icon of the SeaMonkey, trying to open the attachment opens the jpg in the SM browser.
I have tried to add Sea Monkey as helper application too, does not help.

Reproducible: Always

Steps to Reproduce:
1.mail with jpg attachment
2 [review].opening subwindow with attachment icons
3.clicking to the attachment icon
Actual Results:
opens the jpg with the SM

Expected Results:
open the jpg from the attachment with the application, which is associated to.
What happens if you downgrade SeaMonkey and/or Irfanview ?

Is this a separate issue than your bug 365903 ?
Version: unspecified → SeaMonkey 1.1 Branch
It seems a little bit different now. When I click to the attachment subwindow the Irfanview icon before the filename of the jpg attachment, the SEA Monkey always display the jpg by itself (the browser window, shows something like:

mailbox:///G|/Program%20Files................../jpeg&filename=image002.jpg

. I have tried to deactivate the View-display attachments inline, but no change. Although I see the Icon of Irfanview in the attachment window, the jpg is opened by SeaMonkey browser.
But when I click to the jpg file which is in the list of the download manager and represented with the Irfanview icon, then the Irfan view is started and correctly opening the file. It seems like the SeaMonkey is wrong opening the JPGs files although in the preferences the option Preferences-Advanced-System-..opening JPG is DEACTIVATED.

Strange, but happens so now.

Confirming, in Windows XP SP3 and Windows Vista SP1.

After upgrade of SeaMonkey to 1.1.10 no change, the same buggy behaviour. The icon of irfan is displayed on the attachment, but opened in SeaMonkey.
It is quite annoying. Is anybody working on that?
Zetka
A year or more passed away, the version of SeaMonkey is now 1.1.17, but still the same error persist. Is somebody working on that problem?
Maybe a possibility when clicking on attachment to open the application with a selected application could be a (side) solution.
Regards,
zetka.
I meaned open the attachment with a selectable application....
Sea Monkey in version 2.0.6 but still the same behaviour. Although attachment icon of jpg file shows association with Irfanview, the SeaMonkey uses its own jpg viewing and there is no way how to change it. Stupid.

@reporter:
Still a problem for you? if yes, we need such an email!
Summary: jpg attachment does not use associated application, although it displays jpg with its icon → Double click on mail jpg attachment does not open it in associated application Irfanview, but in SeaMonkey Browser
only vague confirmed by a second user, no step by step instruction, no test-email, no response, so I close this one for now.
@Reporter: Please feel free to reopen this Bug if you still can reproduce the problem with a current SeaMonkey version and a current OS, if you are able to send an affected email and if you can contribute a step by step instruction how to reproduce the problem due to <https://developer.mozilla.org/en-US/docs/Mozilla/QA/Bug_writing_guidelines> (containing every key press and every mouse click) how to reproduce the problem reliably.
