(Keywords: perf)

User-Agent: Mozilla/5.0 (X11; U; Linux i686; en-US; rv:1.9pre) Gecko/2008042704 Minefield/3.0pre
Build Identifier: version 3.0a1pre (2008042903)

Opening the details for a specific message filter is extremely slow for lager lists of rules. I e.g. have one filter with approximately 45 rules that takes 10 seconds to open its editing window. Message filters with smaller sets of rules open instantly.

Reproducible: Always

Steps to Reproduce:
1. create a message filter with approx. 40 rules
2. try to edit it

Actual Results:
takes a long time

Expected Results:
should open instantly

It's particularly annoying when you happen to want to "just" add a new criteria to the list while working through your inbox. Having to wait 10 seconds for just a settings window opening multiple times is putting patience to a test.
tests on clean(er) profiles

1.in trunk:
Mozilla/5.0 (Windows; U; Windows NT 6.0; en-US; rv:1.9pre) Gecko/2008050715 Lightning/0.6a1 Thunderbird/3.0a1 ID:2008050715

Seams so
tested with some 20-25 rules and got 3-5 seconds to open "edit" filter.

2.in 2.0.0.14
Mozilla/5.0 (Windows; U; Windows NT 6.0; en-US; rv:1.8.1.14) Gecko/20080421 Lightning/0.9pre Thunderbird/2.0.0.14 - Build ID: 2008042104

50 rules don't seam do differ from 30, about 2 seconds (??)

Should test on newer 3.0a2pre (alpha 2 ..)

note:
It's hard to compare tb3 and 2, but seams bit slower ..
hardware/os may make a tiny difference in my results vs reporter's (in seconds)

Maximilian still see this with newest trunk?
Component: Preferences → Filters

Yes, I do.
Also, during this time, thunderbird cpu usage goes to 100%.
:-(
duping to bug 444793? it's already confirmed.
Maximilian, if you can share, please attach your problem filter to that bug.
