Details

If a user accesses the Bookmarks Sidebar, "Copy" and "Paste" are available through the context menu for the root folders ("Bookmarks Toolbar", "Bookmarks Menu" and "Unsorted Bookmarks"). "Delete" is not available. They are also available through the cut and paste keyboard shortcuts. All three of these actions should be disabled. We should not be able to copy and paste any of the root folders. This was found in Mozilla/5.0 (Macintosh; U; Intel Mac OS X 10.5; en-US; rv:1.9pre) Gecko/2008050404 Minefield/3.0pre.
This isn't restricted to keyboard/context menu, it's also possible to do this with a d&d, see bug in comment 1.
Summary: Users can copy and paste root folders in the Bookmarks Sidebar via context menu or keyboard → Users can copy and paste root folders in the Bookmarks Sidebar
This sounds like a duplicate of bug 416580, the difference is that we want to allow copy, but not paste of the root folders. another use case is pasting the root folder contents into other applications like a spreadsheet or text file.

Bug 451915 - move Firefox/Places bugs to Firefox/Bookmarks and History. Remove all bugspam from this move by filtering for the string "places-to-b-and-h". In Thunderbird 3.0b, you do that as follows: Tools | Message Filters Make sure the correct account is selected. Click "New" Conditions: Body contains places-to-b-and-h Change the action to "Delete Message". Select "Manually Run" from the dropdown at the top. Click OK. Select the filter in the list, make sure "Inbox" is selected at the bottom, and click "Run Now". This should delete all the bugspam. You can then delete the filter. Gerv
