ftp sites give a blank line under back button

To reproduce.
1. go to a ftp site eg ftp://ftp.kernel.org
2. enter a directory eg pub
3. click on the small arrow under the back button that shows your history.
The ftp sites give a blank line there. I expect to see the ftp site listed or
nothing at all but not a blank line.
I tried this with 2000062108, w95 and 2000042708 solaris 2.7
