User-Agent: Mozilla/5.0 (Windows; U; Windows NT 5.1; en-US; rv:1.9) Gecko/2008051206 Firefox/3.0 Build Identifier: 2.0.0.14 (20080421) When forwarding certain emails, part of the body or the whole body gets removed. At first sight it seems that this issue only appears when the email was sent to me from a non-Thunderbird e-mail client in a HTML format with some sort of in-message picture. Note that a reply of any such message seems to work fine (message body is completely mentioned) & resolves the issue in future forwards (find message with issue -> reply to yourself -> forward the replied message -> issue no longer present). I'll add two example .eml files. 1 message is forwarded inline without any body while the other gets forwarded inline with only part of the message. Reproducible: Always Steps to Reproduce: 1. Make certain that "Tools > Options > Composition > General > Forward messages: Inline" is set. 2. Find specific email for which the issue always occurs (sorry, but at this point in time I don't know any better way to identify problem emails). 3. Click the forward button on the email. Actual Results: (Part of) The message body disappears in the forward message window. Expected Results: Message body is completely mentioned & nothing is missing. Although a workaround is available (use retry & update To: & Header), it is very annoying as you can never be certain that a forward message contains the whole message body.
The second case (HTML message with embedded images, quoted-printable format) is known as bug 307023, thus I'm focusing on your first test case: > Inline forward of this message completely makes the message body dissapear When you say disappear, don't you see anything at all for the message body, or some unrecognizable short text as reported in bug 296282 for base64 encoding? > Note that a reply of any such message seems to work fine Is this also the case for the first message which does not show up anything when forwarded?
Attached you can find 2 example .eml files, out of which the first one completely disappears & the second one partially disappears. I can take print screens if you like, but a print screen of a 100% empty email message seems quite obvious.
Thanks, the reason for asking was to figure out whether this is bug 296282 or rather bug 430697, and a completely empty message would indicate the latter.
