When saving a message that contains characters not in the selected Character Encoding, Thunderbird prompts you to "Send in UTF-8", "Cancel", or "Send anyway".
This also happens when (auto)saving a Draft (at least on IMAP with Draft folder on server.)
You need to set several preferences for sending to get Thunderbird to prompt when really sending a message, which is the behavior I want for sending.
But for saving a message Thunderbird should prompt you to "Save in UTF-8", "Cancel", or "Save anyway". Or better yet, "save it anyway" and prompt you when you really Send/Forward the message.
