I cant reset the search bar permanently, the searchbar position is reverted after restart.
After restart if I try to reset again nothing happens and the seachbar stays this way.
Reproducible: Always
Steps to Reproduce:
1. Resize the searchbar as much as you can
2. Open customize and click restore default set
3. Restart the browser
Actual Results:
The restored position is set but after restart is lost. After another restart restore default set cant change the position.
Expected Results:
When click restore default set, the searchbar default position should be restored permanently as seen at the first start up
Actually I think the browser is bringing back the previous position, not the default.

"Restore defaults" is intended to restore default search engines, not the default width. So this bug is invalid.
If you want this behaviour in Firefox, feel free to reopen this bug, changing the severity to enhancement. But anyway I don't think it's a good idea, because in theory Firefox should restore also the default position and aspect in general, and it's not simple and so useful IMO.

I dont think "Restore Default Set" is intended to reset the search engines in any way! You can do that from Profile Manager dialog only. This bug is still reproducible with latest trunk build: Mozilla/5.0 (Windows; U; Windows NT 5.1; en-US; rv:1.9.1a1pre) Gecko/2008072003 Minefield/3.1a1pre

Correction not only from Profile Manager but from Search Engine Manager List too. However this bug is about restoring the toolbars not the search engines.

Ah ok. For "Customize" I thought you meant search bar settings. Confirmed.
I change the resolution to Minor, since it's not so problematic.
Another related bug is Bug 332398.

Updating summary to better reflect this problem. There is no dependency for bug 332398. But bug 507040 could be related. Seems like the width is updated shortly but reverted right after. Could eventually be fixed by bug 507040.

Alex, is our current behavior wanted or would we have to change it according to comment 0?

The expected behavior described in comment #0 is correct, this is a bug we need to fix.
