Lightning 0.6a1  (2008052818) + Thunderbird 3.0a2pre (2008052904)

[Today Pane] "New Event" button does nothing, event dialog not displayed

Steps to Reproduce:
1. Start Thunderbird with Lightning
2. Enable display of the Today Pane 
3. Click the "New Event" button above the Agenda 

Actual Results:
Nothing happens. Event dialog is not displayed. Console shows no error messages.

Expected Results:
Event dialog is displayed.

Fails in Ltn 0.9pre (2008052319) + Tb 2.0.0.14 (20080421).

I had to modify the patch a bit and got the belated approval of philipp for it who is in our office today. The point was that the query that I removed was not quite dispensible as I thought at first.

patch checked in on trunk and MOZILLA_1_8_BRANCH.
