For people with their mail folders in a non-standard location (for instance another hard drive), it is useful if there is an option in the Import Wizard that starts up on first run to have an option to select an existing folder.
Now if you reinstall your system you have to run thunderbird first, do nothing with import wizard (so it creates a blank profile) and then manually alter profiles.ini to point Thundebird to the mail folder.
