Build Identifier: Mozilla/5.0(Windows;U;Windows NT 6.0;en-GB;rv:1.9)Gecko/2008052906 Firefox/3.0

FF3 RC2 has not visited any urls nor started working since updating to RC2 was applied in FF3 RC1 (the latter worked perfectly.)Excuse lengthy copy of error message in Error Console (of FF3 RC2.)
[Exception..."Component returned failure code:0x80040111(NS_ERROR_NOT_AVAILABLE){nsIChannel.contentType}" nsresults:"0x80040111(NS_ERROR_NOT_AVAILABLE)" location:"JSframe::file///C:/Program%20Files/Mozilla%20Firefox/components/FeedProcessor.js::FP-onStartRequest::line1440" data:no]

Reproducible: Didn't try

Steps to Reproduce:
1.install FF3 RC1
2.check for updates in Help menu to download FF3 RC2
3.FF3 RC2 never starts working
Actual Results:
I did not perform steps above beyond as described failing to navigate FF3 RC2 to any web addresses. Also I have uninstalled and reinstalled it twice, but retained Firefox data resumes unwanted behaviour. I need to find out whether to edit above data or delete? it. Also I am convinced a computer restart after the FF3 RC2 install was responsible for the problem.

Expected Results:
I need to find out about deleting or editing Firefox retained data. FF3 RC2 should have initialised and appears not to have done.

I know that FF3 RC1 lacked a Talkback extension. I believe FF3 RC2 would also lack the same. (Never connected latter to internet from whence a Talkback extension might have downloaded.) I am reporting this bug out Internet Explorer 7 running in Vista SP1. I have never filed a bug before. It might be normal to report them out of Firefox. The attempt to update from FF3 RC1 to FF3 RC2 was made in an Administrator Approval User Account, and there is an available Standard User Account.
I depend on new info via this route to re-establish normal Firefox use. I do not know whether Firefox 2 would install, and want more info before I experiment.

While the exception you reported is a duplicate of bug 433605, your actual problem sounds like it is that you have a firewall which noticed that there was a difference between RC1 and RC2, got scared and denied RC2 access to the network, but did a lousy job of telling you that it was breaking your browser. If you need help sorting that out, please see the support options in http://www.mozilla.com/en-US/support/

In reply to Philor, I expect your opinion that my firewall broke FF3 RC2 might be partly correct. In fact I was using a different Internet Security Suite when I installed FF3 RC1 (it was one which disallowed itself to be turned off, so that Windows Vista Firewall could not start being turned on,) and I changed to a different Internet Security Suite (one which does tolerate its own Firewall turned off,) before I updated to FF3 RC2, with Windows Vista Firewall running at that time. It is possible to browse to exceptions in the latter, and in my opinion doing so would maybe work out? You need an installed application to browse to make it an exception, and as you are updating, the application is not yet installed. It seems a subject worth speculating, as Vista and Windows 7 are the future!
