On the front page, featured add-ons have their category listed in text under their link on the right side and have a "View more from" category link when featured in the top spot. However, it seems this from the first category in the list of included categories, not their primary category. (i.e. the one this add-on is recommended in) 2 examples: * Flagfox was in the top spot today, and has "View more from Web Development". It should be "Alerts & Updates", as that's my primary category; the one I'm recommended in. (also listed as category #1 in the new manage categories page) * Flashblock has "Web Development" listed under it's link on the right, however it's recommended in the "Privacy & Security" category. As "Web Development" is a common extra category, and it always seems to be listed first, there's probably quite a few other extensions that are just labeled as "Web Development" like this. (which isn't very informative) Minor, but annoying. The listed category should be using the category in the #1 spot, which if recommended should also be that category.
Unless I am mistaken, front-page recommended add-ons don't have a "category they are recommended in" -- they are recommended on the front page. But maybe I am misunderstanding you here?
See bug 437150 and the linked to blog posting. Each category has a recommended list. Front-page recommended add-ons are now called "featured" add-ons, and are chosen from the category recommended lists. Now, I don't know if it's allowed to have a featured add-on that's not recommended. In that case just taking the #1 listed category makes sense. However, I think the plan is to have the featured list be only a sub-set of the total recommended lists. In any case, this bug report is about those that do have a recommended category not being shown as recommended in that category.
This is gone in the new AMO 5.0.6 design.
