Many threads about this. Examples: * http://support.mozilla.com/tiki-view_forum_thread.php?comments_parentId=77086&forumId=1 *http://support.mozilla.com/tiki-view_forum_thread.php?comments_parentId=77114&forumId=1 It just comes up with a blank tab. This happened to me during testing with Minefield, but went away. I've seen people say making a new profile doesn't help in some cases. Other say resetting preferences worked. Any other ideas?
I've been getting e-mail from forum users asking me for private help with this. * In two cases, a HijackThis log revealed the My Web Search malware. Removal of this and a virus/spyware scan resolved the issue. * In two other cases, and EnumProcess or HJT log showed multiple security programs as active. In one, removing McAfee (leaving AVG) fixed things, and in the other, removing ZoneAlarm (leaving Norton Something) fixed things. I don't think we have a solid enough solution for an article, but if so, I think it might include: * Properly setting preferences in the Options window to take care of the easy cases. * Closing Firefox, deleting sessionstore.js files from the profile folder. * Disabling all extensions/themes (especially those with Session Restore capabilities) and plugins and testing. * Resetting preferences to default (had some success with this in the days before FF3 was released) * Scan for malware. * Remove conflicting security programs.
Resetting a part of preferences solved my problem. I suspect that old TabMix Plus preferences (in spite of the add-on being disabled/deleted) were the cause for this behavior. Nonetheless, I have noticed quite a few Firefox 3.0 issues are to be resolved by resetting preferences or just by reinstalling the Firefox. Does not that remind you of Windows 95? Cheers
This bug seems to be mostly because of Bug 398817
