I have created the XPInstall for Java Plug-in. Basically, there are two
XPInstall:
1) XPInstall for Java 2 Standard Edition (J2SE) v1.3.
2) XPInstall for J2SE v1.3 patch for Netscape 6 PR2.
User must install #1, followed by #2 in order to install Java properly with
PR2. The reason why we didn't bundle these two together is because #1 will
launch the J2SE installer and exits. In this case, if we bundle them together,
the patch will be applied even before J2SE is installed.
I will hand the XPInstall to Ed by July 21, so he may hand it off to Netscape.

We have handed off the XPI to Netscape, so this issue will be addressed in PR2.

Dan,
Is this good? What's optimal is that we have one .xpi file not two. And for
users also, I don't like them having to download two items of the same
plug-in especially when it's not necessary.

what is a good way to verify this bug? Thx.
Make it so no java is installed on your machine.
Visit http://home.netscape.com/plugins/jvm.html (when it's done, see bug 42561)
and follow the steps.
Visit a page with an applet and verify that the applet runs.

With no java installed, clicking on the "Get the Plugin" takes me to the
http://java.sun.com/products/plugin/ webpage. No installer launches.

I ma marking this verified since netscape has the xpi files provided by Sun.
The functioning of xpinstall to work is another bug (bug 42561). So closing
this.
