RSS readers are web services allowing users to subscribe to RSS feeds online and view them. If Firefox detects a feed, it offers the user to subscribe to it, either as a live bookmark or via one of the web services.

The current RSS Readers in en-US are Bloglines, My Yahoo, Google.

We want to ship a good set of defaults for Icelandic, and will work towards that in three stages.

First, the localization team and Mic (Michal Berman) will look at the market for the language and come up with a good candidates. Kristján, we'll need your input on this, the guidelines for making recommendations are on http://wiki.mozilla.org/Firefox_web_services_guidelines. After we decided on a particular RSS reader, Mic will contact the owner and ask for permission. undefined, we'll likely need your help to at least get the contact information.

Once we have a specification on what the set of RSS readers for Icelandic should look like, the localization team and Axel will work on an implementation on that. This should happen by the localization team creating and attaching patches for the desired changes, and requesting review from Axel. After a successful review, the localization team will land them. If you're not feeling comfortable with creating those changes, ask Axel to help out.

Please don't commit any modifications in l10n/is/browser/chrome/browser-region/region.properties to the cvs repository without a patch reviewed by Axel or someone else appointed by Mic. The data here is sensitive to users and our search partners, thus the extra care here.
I think using the two most popular news sites here in Iceland would be a good idea for the RSS feeds.

Website: http://mbl.is
RSS: http://www.mbl.is/mm/rss/forsida.xml

Website: http://visir.is
RSS: http://visir.is/section/&Template=rss&mime=xml
This bug is actually about webapps that one can use to subscribe to feeds and view them online. The feeds you given are the right kind of suggestions for the rss sample bug 442904, though.

Head over to http://www.bloglines.com/ or http://www.netvibes.com/ to get a feeling what we're doing here.
Ah ok I see, No I don't know of any such services that are here. The en-US defaults should be just ok.
ok let's go with those. i will also double check with netvibes if they are available in Icelandic and post back in bug asap

But the translation is only on 27%, LMK what you think

i you know of people who can help translate they can get access to Netvibes tools by asking francois bureau copied on this bug
Kristjan - shall we include netvibes or stick with en-us defaults (all english)?
Yes please include Netvibes, I contacted the Netvibes administrator and I am currently helping them with translating the Netvibes core into Icelandic, which should be finished soon.
ok, so what I gather from comment #7 is we will include
my yahoo
google reader
bloglines
netvibes

please confirm or are you suggesting replacing bloglines with netvibes? the preferred number of readers is 3, however in some locales we do have 4 and I am not sure if bloglines is used at all in Icelandic. thanks. once you confirm the list, we can move to close this bug
I confirm we should have all four readers:
my yahoo
google reader
bloglines
netvibes
great, thanks. would you be able to add a patch to include these for review?
Ok added netvibes as RSS reader. I think I got the url feed right.

Add netvibes as RSS reader

r=me, please land this change with a check-in comment referencing this bug and my review, something like "bug 442903, add netvibes to content handlers, r=l10n@mozilla.com" would do.

For future patches, we're commonly using unified patches, i.e., cvs diff -u. As we're used to those, we find them easier to read, so if you could use the -u option for future patches, that'd be helpful, thanks.

I checked the patch in and tested the nightly build. The Netvibes content handler is working. Should I mark this bug as FIXED?
as long as you've done all that's described in comment #12, then yes please do :)
