I am accepting to close this bug as duplicate, though it is not exact duplicate - bug here proposes that settings should be remembered per folder, but it might be overkill. I keep right to reopen bug, though if I find that I am missing such implementation.
we still don't know if we will remember it globally so asking to remember for every folder appear more as a wontfix. You can't drag&drop correctly into sorted folders so what would happen if sorting would be persistent and different in every folder? I think that for UI consistency even if you reopen this could be marked as a wontfix... Hwv in that case you should purpose an enhancement, not a bug.
Bug 451915 - move Firefox/Places bugs to Firefox/Bookmarks and History. Remove all bugspam from this move by filtering for the string "places-to-b-and-h".

In Thunderbird 3.0b, you do that as follows:
Tools | Message Filters
Make sure the correct account is selected. Click "New"
Conditions: Body contains places-to-b-and-h
Change the action to "Delete Message".
Select "Manually Run" from the dropdown at the top.
Click OK.

Select the filter in the list, make sure "Inbox" is selected at the bottom, and click "Run Now". This should delete all the bugspam. You can then delete the filter.
