Details

User-Agent: Mozilla/5.0 (Windows; U; Windows NT 5.1; en-US; rv:1.8.1.16) Gecko/20080702 Firefox/2.0.0.16
Build Identifier: 22.0.0.14

For several weeks whenever I open T-Bird, I am offered an update. The software jumps through the hoops and then tells me "one or more files could not be updated" and starts the whole process again. I tried reinstalling the works and that failed too. I manage to get T-Bird up by repeatedly clicking on the icon until the unwanted update gives up. This is most irritating and I would like it to stop and to continue using Thunderbird as I have it.

Reproducible: Always

Steps to Reproduce:
1.open thunderbird
2.
3.
Actual Results:
A window opens and tells me that Thunderbird is installing an update. Then it fails and starts over.

Expected Results:
Either install the update and go away or just go away.

This happens on both my desktop and my laptop and also to colleagues who are as exasperated as I am
Try disabling logitech quick cam if you've got one installed. Some of the comments on bug 340535 may help. Either way, this is a duplicate of that bug.
